Unfortunately, last weekend didn’t go to script on a few different fronts.
We learnt on Thursday afternoon of the shift in venue for our VFL game against Geelong, from North Port Oval to Williamstown.
Obviously this was far from ideal, however there was still a game of footy to be won.
And our boys certainly tried very hard against a star-studded Geelong outfit, but ultimately fell short by 14 points on a windswept afternoon; with inaccuracy in front of goal often proving to be our downfall.
On a more positive note, our women capped off several months’ worth of hard work by chalking up their FIRST EVER WIN!
As many would be able to attest, our girls have been showing signs of improvement week-to-week and edging closer to cracking it for their historic opening victory; and it all clicked last week as we prevailed by 25 points over Chirnside Park in the AFL South Eastern Division 1 competition.
Well done girls, hopefully the first of many!!
It’s a Bye weekend for our VFL team in Round 12, but our women are back in action against the Gippsland Maroons this Saturday from 11:30am (Venue TBC).
The following weekend will see our VFL team return to North Port Oval to clash with Sandringham in Round 13 – be sure to contact the club to confirm any President’s Luncheon bookings!
