WILLIAMSTOWN 10.14 (74) d PORT MELBOURNE 7.14 (56)
IN A NUTSHELL: Williamstown won the battle of the breeze at Williamstown Football Ground, holding on in the final term for an 18-point win. A five-goal opening term with the breeze helped the Seagulls to an early 32-point lead. An inaccurate nine behind second term dented Port Melbourne’s use of the breeze, before three late time-on goals reduced the margin to just six points at half time. The inaccuracy continued in the third term, this time for the home side, who were only able to kick three goals from 14 scoring opportunities, but held an important 34-point lead heading into the final term. While Port kicked two early final term goals, Williamstown’s defensive efforts were rewarded with a goal against the breeze in the final quarter to secure a top 4 spot at the end of the round.
KEY MOMENTS: Williamstown kept Port Melbourne goalless against the breeze in the first and third terms, while adding two of their own against the breeze.
LEADING GOALKICKERS: Williamstown – Marcon 3, George 2, Dunell 2 / Port Melbourne – Rivett 2
FORMLINES: Williamstown (12-5) has extended its winning run to five games, and sit a game clear in fourth spot. A win next week will result in the double chance for the Seagulls/ Port Melbourne (9-8) has suffered back-to-back defeats, leaving the Borough no certainty of a top 8 spot. A win in the final round will guarantee finals, but a loss by over 60 points could see Port needing Essendon to drop their final round clash to Northern Blues.

COLLINGWOOD 20.17 (137) d FRANKSTON 1.4 (10)
IN A NUTSHELL: Collingwood produced a dominant four quarter performance to jump into top 4 calculations. Three goals in the second term was the only quiet quarter for the Magpies, as they produced their biggest ever score against the Dolphins, while resigning the visitors to their lowest VFA/VFL score, surpassing their 2.10 22 in 1995 versus Springvale.
KEY MOMENTS: Collingwood kicked 19 unanswered goals, restricting the Dolphins to just one final term goal for the game.
LEADING GOALKICKERS: Frankston– Nanscawen 1/ Collingwood – Fasolo 5, McLarty 2, Gallucci 2, Wills 2, Crocker 2, Smith 2
FORMLINES: Frankston (2-15) have avoided the wooden spoon in 2018, and will play a hand in Richmond’s final ladder position in Round 21. / Collingwood (11-6) has rocketed back into top 4 calculations jumping 11% this round. Can finish as high as fourth, but as low as sixth in the final round. If the Magpies defeat Sandringham, will need to rely on Casey beating Williamstown to secure the double chance.
