Former Casey Demons defender Jordyn Allen was one of the final nominations for the 2019 NAB AFL Women’s Rising Star award after playing a key role in Collingwood’s only win of the season in Round 7.
The 174cm 18-year-old had 10 disposals and took six marks in the Magpies’ six-point victory over Brisbane at Victoria Park on Sunday to cap a debut season that saw her play every match.

Allen was selected by Collingwood with pick no.5 at the 2018 NAB AFLW Draft following a stellar junior career in which her skills and composure stood out.
Playing for the Dandenong Stingrays in the Victorian U18 Girls competition, she won a club best-and-fairest award in 2018, was named in the Team of the Year in 2017 and 2018, captained the Stingrays in both of those years and skippered Vic Country in four games at the 2018 AFLW U18 Championships.
The Rye (Mornington Peninsula Junior FL) product later went on to play five Swisse Wellness VFL Women’s games for Casey last year, being named in the team’s best players twice.
Allen joins fellow 2018 draftees from the VFLW in Nina Morrison (Geelong VFLW to Geelong AFLW), Madison Prespakis (Melbourne Uni to Carlton AFLW), Courteney Munn (Southern Saints to North Melbourne), Danielle Ponter (Essendon VFLW to Adelaide) and Olivia Purcell (Geelong VFLW to Geelong AFLW) as AFLW Rising Star nominees for 2019.
