AFL Victoria is proud to announce the second state-wide Sockit2MND Round from June 15-16.
After seeing fantastic success in 2018, AFL Victoria is continuing our partnership with FightMND to raise awareness and much needed funds for vital research for motor neurone disease (MND). Via the inaugural dedicated themed round in 2018, the football community saw more than 130 clubs rally together and raise over $158k for FightMND through the purchase of Big Freeze socks, of which 9,530 pairs were sold.
AFL Victoria is proud to continue our partnership with FightMND and support the dedicated round, which sees the football community unite for a worthy cause which is close to the AFL through past Essendon player and Ex-Melbourne Football Club Coach Neale Daniher, who is not only the co-founder of FightMND, but also fighting MND himself.
The 2019 Sockit2MND campaign will see players from participating leagues and clubs across all levels of football– from grassroot leagues to Victoria’s state competitions – wear the Big Freeze 5 socks during the dedicated Sockit2MND Round.
AFL Victoria is encouraging football clubs across the state to join in and support the 2019 Sockit2MND campaign by purchasing a pair of the Big Freeze 5 socks and wearing them proudly on June 15 & 16.
The aim of the Sockit2MND round is to
- Raise awareness of MND within your local community
- Support those within the community who may be suffering from MND or have a personal connection to MND
- Raise vital funds to help continue to fund Australia’s best and brightest researchers to find effective treatments and ultimately a cure for MND
